TrustTrust

Hi there Synergy family, this time around we’re going to talk a little bit about Trust.

Trust is really easy to break and very difficult to gain. Once trust is broken, either by deliberate or accidental action, it takes a huge effort by both people to regain it. If the action was on purpose it can be nearly impossible to fix.

“I’m not upset that you lied to me, I’m upset that from now on I can’t believe you.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche

Why is it important to be trustworthy as a martial artist? Well besides being one of the ten major tenants of martial arts, when you have been training you have the ability to do harm. This is one hundred percent unacceptable unless it is in self defense and you simply must be able to be trusted with that knowledge and ability.

Also this virtue exemplifies what it is to be considered a black belt. If an Instructor or black belt is not trustworthy, how could you possibly trust them to teach you?

If an Instructor breaks your trust, by either lying to you, not keeping their end of a contract or by mistreating or misrepresenting what will and won’t work in any given situation, their not a worth while Instructor.

“To be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved.”
― George MacDonald

On the other side of that, a student must be able to trust others. This is unfortunately a double edged sword, there will be times where the trust you give someone will be broken. We can’t let that sour us to the idea of trusting people in general. That would close us off to a wonderful, wide world of possible friendships and relationships.

Hope you all enjoyed this!!!

Okay guys, have a wonderful week and we’ll see you in the gym!!!
